We'll tell you what those numbers next to your Pokemon's stats mean in Pokemon Legends: Arceus!
Featured Pokemon Arceus Numbers Next To Stats

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a fresh take on the well-known Pokemon franchise that has been around for over 20 years. There’s quite a few interesting new additions in this game, and that includes a variety of things that will be unfamiliar to the player. One thing you might notice is a bunch of numbers next to the stats of your Pokemon. These are much different than what we’ve seen in the past, so we’ll explain what they do in this guide.

Effort Levels

The numbers next to stats in Pokemon Legends: Arceus are known as Effort Levels. These are modifiers that will increase the base stats of your Pokemon depending on how high you have them. The higher the number of an Effort Level the higher the stat it corresponds to will be.

Each Pokemon will come with a randomly set number of Effort Levels that generally range from 0 – 3 on each stat. It appears that Alpha Pokemon, which are the large red-eyed versions you will find in the wild, can have higher Effort Levels when you first catch them.

Example Of Effort Levels In Pokemon Arceus

Effort Levels have pretty much replaced the stats known as EVs and IVs, which are generally hidden from the player, but play a vital role in how good your Pokemon’s potentially ends up being. Pokemon Legends: Arceus has simplified this process tremendously, and has made it so that any Pokemon you get can have the maximum amount of base stats.

While your Pokemon will start with a low number of Effort Levels, you can increase these by using items known as Grit. There are four different Grit items in the game, and each one will take an Effort Level only so far. You need Grit Dust to get them from 0 – 3, Grit Gravel to raise them from 3 – 6, Grit Pebbles to raise them from 6-9, and Grit Rock will max out the Effort Level to 10.

If you want your Pokemon to be as strong as possible then you will want to make sure to raise the Effort levels on each of them fully. They get a pretty significant boost in power if you can do so, which will make fights down the road easier.

Grit items can be obtained by defeating Pokemon or releasing them back into the wild from your Pasture. Releasing the Pokemon is the easiest and fastest way to get Grit items, and you have the possibility to get all forms of Grit. This is the best thing to do with all of those extra Pokemon you have lying around.

That’s everything you need to know about the numbers next to stats in Pokemon Legends: Arceus! You will find a variety of informative content on the game in the Pokemon Arceus section of our website.
