How to evolve Rockruff in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Rockruff, also known as Puppy Pokémon, is a Rock-type introduced in Generation 7. Rockruff can evolve to Lycanroc at level 25. Rockruff has one of most interesting evolutions as it can evolve into one of three different forms of Lycanroc. Evolve Rockruff into Lycanroc in Scarlet and Violet

To evolve Rockruff to Lycanroc, you must consider the time of day. Knowing what type of Lycanroc you want is all a matter of timing. Lycanroc has three forms: Lycanroc Midday Form, Lycanroc Midnight Form, and Lycanroc Dusk Form. To evolve Rockruff to Lycanroc Midday form, you need to raise Rockruff to level 25 during the day. You can check what time it is in-game by opening your Pokedex or map. If you want to stop the evolution, you can press “B” and rethink if you wish to have that form of Lycanroc. 

To attain Lycanroc Midnight Form, you must raise Rockruff to level 25 during the night. It would be best if you stock up on Rare Candy to quickly get the form of Lycanroc you like.

Meanwhile, evolving Rockruff into a Dusk version of Lycanroc could take a little bit more effort. The first thing to consider is that Rockruff must be equipped with the Own Tempo ability to achieve the Dusk version of Lycanroc. You can go to the Moves and Stats page to see its ability. If your Rockruff already comes with Own Tempo, you will need to raise it to level 25 between 7 PM – 7:59 PM (Nintendo Switch’s internal clock) to evolve it into the Dusk version of Lycanroc. You can change the time of your Nintendo Switch by heading to the Date and Time in the System setting.
