Pokemon Scarlet and Violet feature a day-and-night in-game time cycle. Not only does it bring a somehow realistic sense of time, but some Pokemons only show up during certain parts of the day. There are three phases of the day featured in Scarlet and Violet: morning, evening, and night. Unlike previous franchises of Pokemon, Scarlet and Violet’s time cycle depends on the in-game clock and not the Switch’s internal clock. Follow this guide if you want to learn more about making it night in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet!

Night Time In Pokemon Scarlet And Violet

To make it night in Scarlet and Violet, it will take 35 in-game minutes to complete a whole day cycle to reach nighttime. Certain Pokémon, such as Ghost Pokémon, spawn at night, but not during the day. Therefore, you will likely have to wait 35 minutes to explore Paldea at night in order to catch these Pokemon. Meanwhile, the sleeping feature of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has no effect on the passage of time. Whether your character slept during the day or night, it would rise at the same moment it fell asleep. The sleeping function solely benefits your character’s health and your Pokemon’s Power Point.

The internal clock of your Switch has no effect on spawning in Paldea’s open world, but it does influence Raids and Mass Outbreaks, which reset at midnight. Whether you want to determine if Raids and Mass Outbreak have reset, you must consult actual time or the clock on your Switch console. Aside from that, game time and real-time are distinct and do not influence one another.
