Wild Hearts is a fast-paced action game with a vibrant, stylized aesthetic and a synth-pop soundtrack, where players travel through surreal and dreamlike landscapes, battling foes, and dodging obstacles. At launch, there are eight different weapons in the game, so we have put together this Wild Hearts Cannon Guide to help you understand how this weapon works, the best way to wield it, and when to use it in the game.
Wild Hearts Hand Cannon Guide
The Cannon is one of two long-range weapons that you can choose to use. It isn’t initially available in the game, so you will need to unlock it first, but it can be an excellent weapon to have in your arsenal when you need to fight from afar.
How to unlock the Cannon
To unlock the Cannon weapon in Wild Hearts, you will need to complete the first chapter of the Wild Hearts main storyline. Thankfully, this shouldn’t take too long, so you will be able to unlock this weapon quickly and start to train with it.
How to use the Cannon
The Cannon is designed to be used at range, which means you’ll be able to deal a lot of damage from afar using its explosive projectiles and beam attacks without taking damage close-up. The weapon has two different gauges that you’ll need to keep an eye on in order to maximize its effectiveness. One thing to keep in mind is that it is a heavy weapon and will slow down your mobility when it’s out, so keep it sheathed if you need speed and do not need to use it.
Every time you shoot, it will fill up the Charge Gauge, while the Heat Gauge also increases with each shot. You want to ensure that the Heat Gauge doesn’t fill too much, as this causes the weapon to overheat. You can use the Cannon’s Ki Bases, which are bases that you stand on and will lower the pace at which the Heat Gauge fills. You can also lower the Heat Gauge by using Karakuri combos.
You will also want to keep your Charge Gauge filling as much as you can. Thankfully, using the Ki Bases works here, too, as the Charge Gauge refills when you stand in them and can supercharge your Cannon to use its Special Attack.
Attack 1 will allow you to place a Ki Base on the ground, while pressing Attack 2 with the Special Attack will allow you to shoot a base at a Kemono. Now, you can only have five Ki Bases active at a given time, so keep them spread out, and if necessary, you can dispel all of them using R2/RT + Square/X.
We hope our Wild Hearts Cannon Guide has helped you to understand how the weapon works, the best way to wield it, and when to use it in the game. Check out more of our Wild Hearts coverage!
