Grass-type Pokemon are one of the three starter types. Along with Fire and Water, the three types form a triangular, or rock-paper-sister style, relationship. Many Grass-type Pokemon are based on real-world plants and fungi rather than herbs.

An interesting fact about Grass-type Pokemon is that some have Poison abilities to reflect the toxicity of different plants. As they can learn moves like “spore” or “dust,” their playstyle is often passive.

Grass-type moves are typically Clever in contests. However, they can also be any of the other four contest conditions.

Grass Type Weaknesses

Grass-type Pokemon have weaknesses to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug-type moves when on defense. Their attacks are not effective against the Flying, Poison, Bug, Steel, Fire, and Grass-type Pokemon.

Grass Type Strengths

Grass-type moves are strong (Super Effective) against Water, Ground, and Rock Pokemon. When a Grass Pokemon is on defense, they are resistant to Water, Electric, Grass, and Ground-type moves.
