Poison-type Pokemon are one of the weakest offensive Pokemon types. However, it performs a little better when on the defensive. The best advantage of this Pokemon type is through status moves like Toxic, a move that badly poisons the target and deals damage each round.
Poison-type moves are typically Clever or Tough in contests. They can be Beautiful or Cool, but none of them are considered Cute.
Some of the most popular Poison-type trainers include Koga, the Fuchsia Gym Leader, Roxie, the Virbank Gym Leader, and Klara, the Isle of Armor Gym Leader.
Poison Type Weaknesses
Poison-type Pokemon have weaknesses to Ground and Psychic-type moves when on defense. Their attacks are not very effective against Poison, Ground, Rock, and Ghost-type Pokemon, and they have no effect on Steel-type Pokemon.

Poison-type moves are strong (Super Effective) against Grass and Fairy Pokemon. When a Poison Pokemon is on defense, they are resistant to Grass, Fighting, Poison, Bug, and Fairy-type moves.
