Rock-type Pokémon are known for their excellent defense capabilities against physical attacks. They typically are amongst the Pokemon with the highest Defense and have greater than normal Special Defense stats. Besides this, some Rock-type moves do not have high precision, so the chances of these moves landing are reduced. In addition, Rock-type Pokemon are not quick.

Rock-type moves are typically Tough in contests. However, they have a few moves that can be Cute, Cool, Beautiful, or Clever.

Some of the most famous Rock-type trainers include Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader, Roxanne, the Rustboro Gym Leader, and Roark, the Oreburgh Gym Leader.

Rock Type Weaknesses

Rock-type Pokemon have weaknesses to Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, and Steel-type moves when on defense. Their attacks are not very effective against Fighting, Ground, and Steel-type Pokemon.

Rock Type Strengths

Rock-type moves are strong (Super Effective) against Fire, Ice, Flying, and Bug Pokemon. When a Rock Pokemon is on defense, they are resistant to Normal, Poison, Fire, and Flying-type moves.
