Steel-type Pokemon were introduced to combat against Psychic and Normal Pokemon because of their incredible offensive capabilities. Steel-type Pokemon were strategically created for defense. As a result, Steel-type Pokémon are known for their great defense against physical and special attacks and for their significant resistance. They are also very heavy, so they are very slow.

In terms of composition, they are generally mechanical constructions or they are organisms with metal reinforcements.

Steel-type moves are typically Cool in contests. They can also be Clever, Tough, or Beautiful, but never Cute.

Steel Type Weaknesses

Steel-type Pokemon have weaknesses to Fire, Fighting, and Ground-type moves when on defense. Their attacks are not very effective against Fire, water, and Electric-type Pokemon.

Steel Type Strengths

Steel-type moves are strong (Super Effective) against Ice, Rock, and Fairy Pokemon. When a Steel Pokemon is on defense, they are resistant to Normal, Grass, Ice, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Dragon, Steel, and Fairy-type moves.
